🐾 Say Hello to Ena – A Sweet Older AKC Registrable Rottweiler Puppy Ready for Love and Adventure! β€‹πŸΎ

Ena (ee-nah) Is a 19-Month Old, Loving, and Well-Trained Purebred Rottweiler Puppy

1. Personality & Temperament

  • Best/Cutest Traits: She is an extremely loving, smaller rotty at 67 lbs and a world-class lap dog who climbs onto your lap when invited because she believes she’s still a 15 lb baby. Oddly enough, she considers green vegetables a very special treat, and she loves to lean in close for affection, provide you with some heartfelt licks, and wiggle with pure joy at the sight of you. Her happiness and enthusiasm for life are infectious!
  • With People: She is exceptionally friendly and social with all people, from small children to adults. She has typical Rottweiler protectiveness, letting you know if someone is at the door, but once introduced, she is fully welcoming. She has grown up with two young boys and has been great with children as small as 18 months.
  • With Other Pets: She is great with other dogs and loves to play. She’s high-energy but will respectfully back off if a less enthusiastic dog sets a boundary. She has not met cats, but she has the flexibility to learn appropriate behavior with other types of pets.
  • Favorite Activities: She is a playful companion, loves fetch and is an expert at that ground-slapping move when playing ball. She loves the dog park and has also been on a wilderness canoe trip, where she was well-behaved off-leash at the campsites and also comfortable in a canoe.

2. Health, Status, AKC Details, and Training

  • Age & Size: ~1.5 years old (born February 23, 2024) and a smaller 67 lbs and ~22” tall.
  • Spay Status: Intact (Not Spayed). She is intact as research shows early hormonal dysregulation can lead to bone cancers and disrupt normal growth plate development.
  • AKC-Registrable: Purchased from a reputable Illinois breeder for $1,600, she is a purebred Rottweiler. Adopter will receive her AKC registration form, litter number, and her parents AKC and DNA numbers.
  • Vaccinations: Fully Up-to-Date. Comprehensive wellness exam on May 15, 2025. Current on all vaccines: 3-year Rabies, Adult Canine DHLPP, Lepto, and Canine Influenza, with a negative fecal parasite test.
  • Preventatives: Takes Sentinel Spectrum Chews for Heartworm and lavender essential oil spray for flea/tick prevention, with research indicating these options show the least toxicity and fewest side effects vs. others.
  • Vet Visits & Contact: Boulevard Veterinary, Chicago. Last visit in May of 2025 for all vaccinations and annual wellness exam.  All vet visits documented from initial visit after adoption to latest visit in May.  All medical records will be provided.  Please note - At last vet visit I had discussed the small amount of hair loss around Ena's eyes with the vet, who indicated that it was normal for the breed and could be related to an allergy, but did not advise on any treatment.  The condition appears more prominent now around her right eye and I will be meeting with the vet again this week to have this situation assessed again.

Training:

  • Walks – She’s a pleasure to take on walks and jogs and she wouldn’t miss her outdoor time for the world. We still train at times on slight leash pulling, but it’s only early on in the walks AND if she sees some exciting dogs passing by, otherwise she is extremely obedient.
  • Potty/Crate Training – She is completely potty trained and uses the command "let's go potty” on walks. She is comfortable in her crate during the day for a few hours and overnight.
  • Chewing – Like most rottie’s she likes to chew, but she keeps this focused on her heavier duty chew toys.
  • Boarding – When she’s boarded she’s gotten rave reviews from the staff for her kind and snuggly nature and her ability to get along with other dogs.

3. The Ideal Home

  • Active Lifestyle: A family or individual who can commit to some daily outdoor time (at least one 30-minute walk, or dog park visit, or jog) to match her inquisitive and playful nature. She’s otherwise comfortable exploring in an enclosed yard, or lounging by your side snoozing through the quiet parts of the day.
  • Rottweiler Experience: Ideally, an owner with experience or an understanding of the breed's needs for continued socialization and training.
  • Family Inclusion: A home where she’ll be an integral part of the family and receive the frequent affection, outdoor time, and cuddling she deserves.
  • Commitment to Care: Her adopter must commit to her health needs, including regular veterinary care.

4. Rehoming Details

  • Circumstances: Due to a significant change in my job, I can no longer provide the time and attention this amazing pup requires. Our priority is a home that ensures Ena’s long-term well-being.
  • Rehoming Fee: A rehoming fee of $250 (negotiable) is required. This fee is in place to confirm financial readiness of her adopter and importantly to deter individuals who would use Ena for dog flipping, or other ill intent. Our focus is on a committed, forever home.
  • Extensive Equipment Package Included: Ena will go to her new home with a complete kit for care, training, and adventure, including:
  1. Crate: Metal construction (30" x 32" x 48") with liner tray, and integrated food/water bowl holders.
  2. Leashes/Collars: Standard 6 ft leash, collar, prong collar for training, and 30-foot long lead for long-leash walking.
  3. Apparel: Winter jacket for cold weather, a life jacket for water adventures, and diapers if you choose for her to continue to have heat cycles (every ~6 months with the last one ending late August).
  4. Grooming: Shampoo, conditioner, ear mite preventative drops, brushes, and nail clippers.
  5. Food/Treats/Preventatives: Remainder of 34 lb bag of her Blue Buffalo large breed dog food, bottle of Salmon Oil supplement, frozen treat mold and holder, a treat-wheel for her crate, and a ~6 month supply of Sentinel heartworm chews.
  6. Toys/Supplies: 3-4 heavy-duty chew toys and over 1,000 dog poop bags.
